Different Modes of shipping Methods and its Explanation

  • Dedicated container: Shipping a car in a dedicated container is a premium and secure method of international vehicle transport. This method provides exclusive use of a shipping container for one or more cargoes, ensuring maximum protection and security during transit.
  • Shared or Groupage Container: Shipping a car in a groupage container (shared container) is a cost-effective and efficient method of international vehicle transport. This involves sharing container space with other vehicles or shipments, making it an economical alternative to dedicated container shipping.
  • Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo): shipping is one of the most popular and cost-effective methods for transporting vehicles internationally. In this method, vehicles are driven on and off a specialized vessel designed specifically for vehicle transport.

Why are vehicles subjected to inspection in origin as well as destination in many countries?

Origin Customs:

  • To ensure the vehicle meets the export regulations of the country
  • To confirm there are no outstanding loans, fines, or legal claims on the vehicle (e.g., unpaid car loans, traffic violations)
  • To prevent illegal exportation of stolen vehicles

Destination Customs:

  • To ensure the vehicle complies with the import laws and standards of the destination country (e.g., emission standards, safety standards)
  • To verify that the vehicle is not on a restricted or banned list in the importing country
  • To determine the applicable import duties, taxes, and fees. Customs officials verify the declared value of the vehicle matches the actual value to prevent under-invoicing

Many countries have strict environmental and safety regulations for imported vehicles. Inspections ensure:

  • The vehicle adheres to emissions standards (e.g., Euro standards)
  • It meets road safety requirements such as proper lighting, brakes, and structural integrity

Vehicles failing these standards might be denied entry or require modifications.

Delivery & Customs Clearance:

Destination Port:

  • The vehicle will arrive at the designated port. The customer is responsible for clearing customs at the destination port. In Warehouse to port and Door to port shipping mode.
  • We assist in providing customs clearance and door delivery in (door to warehouse) and (warehouse to warehouse) and door to door shipments.
  • Customers will be responsible for all import duties, taxes, and any additional fees at the destination port like storage, demurrage, detention etc.

Household Goods Shipping Guidelines

Pre-shipping Requirements:

1. Documentation:

  • Valid Passport Shipper and Consignee
  • Valid UAE Residence Visa (if applicable)
  • Inventory List (detailed list of all items to be shipped, Prepared by AEON SHIPPING signed by the customer)

2. Packing:

  • Household goods should be professionally packed to prevent damage during shipping
  • We offer packing services and recommend using custom crates for fragile or high-value items
  • We are not responsible for damage to items not packed by our team, unless there is a clear fault in the packing process

3. Weight & Volume:

  • Ensure the accurate measurement of the volume for sea freight in cubic meters and weight of the shipment in KG
  • Charges will be based on either weight or volume, whichever is higher

Shipping Methods:

1. Sea Freight (FCL/LCL):

  • Full Container Load (FCL): Best for Full or Dedicated Container move. Safety level is high compared to LCL and Groupage, where the entire container is used solely for your goods.
  • Less than Container Load (LCL): Ideal for smaller shipments, where your goods share a container with other shipments. But routed via Hub of the continent or routing. Disadvantage is Higher Arrival or Destuffing charges.
  • Groupage: Ideal for Small shipments which is heading to the direct country of customer so its very economical compared to LCL

2. Air Freight:

  • For faster delivery, air freight is an option, though more expensive than sea freight
  • Transit Time: Typically 2-10 days
  • Best for high-value or lightweight items

3. Land Freight:

Cost-effective for regional moves within GCC countries (e.g., UAE to Saudi Arabia, Oman, or Qatar).

Options include FTL (Full truck Load) LTL (Less than truck load) and Groupage options as well.
